Barry McGowan, CEO of Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão, based in Dallas, Texas has stated that it aims to add vegan meat to its meat-centric menu. The chain, which has 53 locations, features a “churrasco” experience, where meat is passed around on skewers and knives by servers and guests pay a set price for all-you-can-eat-meat.
“We’ve been working on plant-based proteins for about two years,” McGowan told National Restaurant News. “Our price includes everything, so why wouldn’t we offer that? There’s no risk.” However, it hasn’t been revealed if its plant-based options will come from well-known companies such as Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods. Many food chains have announced their plans to add vegan options to their menus in the last month, including KFC, Dunkin’, and Tim Horton’s.
